WHAT’S THIS – A NEWSLETTER OF SORTS
Well we did say we would do a Newsletter for Xmas but sadly a lack of contributions. So instead an opportunity to send you your Membership Application form for next year and to give you the provisional schedule for 2015 and of course to wish you all a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR.
Trials entries have been quite good this year, thanks to Mike for spreading the word around through various means – we don’t seem to have suffered too much from the lack of the Newsletter and hopefully members are getting used to finding all the info on the Website – we must also thank Mike for this as he keeps it up to date and adds pics etc.
2015 DATES LIST – this is subject to change – we have yet to confirm Kingsfold again for this year, but are hopeful we can use on the same dates as last year – So please check on the website for any changes. Kingsfold proved a popular venue with good entries but also a fair number of dnfs. In April we had 13 dnf out of a total of 44 – mainly yellows – 10 dnf. This was really due to the wet ground, it’s a difficult piece of land when it rains – but think of it as a challenge, you can only improve!
A NOTE FROM THE CHAIRMAN
We have had another successful year. In general our entries have held up well. As someone who rides in other club events and group trials and sees how low entries can be it is very encouraging to see the numbers we get month on month. Do keep coming and remember to let us know if you think of anything we can do that you feel could improve things.
I’m sure that a large part of our success is down to how things are organised. Adrian has made sure that we have a healthy set of teams to set out trials. This is important because it gets people involved and makes sure that we get both a variety of sections and differing views as to how they are set out.
We have good equipment and again this is important. Anyone who has tried setting out a trial using old bits of marking that need stapling to a tree, or better still to a piece of stick that you have tried to hammer into the ground will appreciate the marking and flags that we use.
Through Dick’s efforts we have secured another venue to replace the loss of Walliswood. Kingsfold is a great piece of ground and with the stream a main feature offers a challenge that the other venues don’t provide. The intention is to use Kingsfold twice a year. This was the case this year and two excellent trials were run there.
As things stand we have no social events planned and this seems to be the general wish of our members. One or two of you have expressed an interest but as things are this is insufficient to plan anything. We would like to promote the social side and are happy to do so if the demand is there. It’s your call, let us know if you have any ideas that we can use to help this along.
Have a great Christmas and I wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. ‘Tis the season to be jolly – remember that and be nice to our resident Hobbit (however hard you may find it!).
FINALLY – Please remember Adrian does a lot of work in organising the teams, so please help him and any new members go and say Hello and volunteer – it will make his job a lot easier.
